Famous people of the past are sometimes simply famous because it is said so repeatedly of them over millennia or centuries, while in reality their work is no longer so admirable or relevant for our time. For new people to become famous will be more difficult because there are so many of them and they are forgotten more quickly.

I reproduce here, a list of world conferences and special observances decided so far by the United Nations and its agencies. They are the best and most direct way for the citizens of this planet to take part and enhance the global consciousness of the human family, so urgently needed at this juncture of evolution. I wish that these days be mentioned on calendars, that school children would join in activities on such days and that the issues of these days be discussed in the family, in professions, in business, in communities, and in national governments.

I have suggested many ideas in my various books on what people can do for peace and a better world. Global conferences and observances are the simplest, most direct way for people to partici¬pate in the building of a better world. These observed days provide a good selection of subjects to choose from according to sex, age, inclinations and professional activities. I beg therefore every reader to select at least one of these celebrations and to make it his or her duty to do something special on that day.
